A cold front is producing strong winds, high-elevation snows, coastal and low-elevation rains across much of the western U.S., which will be followed by a surge of cold air tonight. Showers and thunderstorms are expected across portions of the central and southern Plains today; and marginally severe hail may occur with evening/overnight thunderstorms in parts of Oklahoma. Localized fire-weather concerns are expected across Virginia and portions of North Carolina and eastern Tennessee today.
A turn to active weather is coming on Friday PM, with active weather continuing through the weekend. There is a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) of severe thunderstorms both Friday and Saturday
Severe storms/tornadoes are possible this afternoon through tonight from southeast Texas into southern Louisiana. Farther north, isolated hail and strong wind gusts will also be possible across parts of East/North
Scattered thunderstorms, some severe, will be possible Thursday mainly over southeast Texas. A conditional risk for a few tornadoes will be possible
The next few days bring a change to the current weather. Temperatures will significantly warm up, and chances for rain increase. Multi-day rainfall event begins Friday, bringing 3”- 6” of rain in the Florida
